Precious Ones ~Tomorrow is December 1st
and mothers throughout our land
are counting the days til that BIG day!
Countless lists are being made of presents to purchase,
ingredients to buy, cards to mail,
parties to plan...sometimes it is ALL so exhausting!
And all of this hubbub
(a confused babble of voices and loud sounds)
springs from a Birthday Celebration.
Oh, Madison Avenue won't admit it...
in fact they try so very hard to deny it,
but the REAL reason for Christmas is
the humble Birthday of the most significant man
who ever lived ......
JESUS the Christ!
Christians celebrate His birthday because it
commemorates His incarnation...
when God became flesh by being born of a virgin.
And His birth foreshadowed His death on a
cruel cross to purchase salvation
for all who will turn to Him.
He paid the penalty for our sins that we are powerless
to pay before a Holy God.
The GOOD NEWS (and who doesn't need some today?)
is that His invitation is still open
for ALL who will believe!

Well, yesterday in many Christian churches,
the first Sunday in Advent was observed.
Advent is the season that Christians prepare for Christmas
by celebrating the “coming” or “arrival”
of Jesus the Christ.
It lasts the four weeks before Christmas and is marked
by reading scripture and
lighting a candle each Sunday
before Christmas Day,
culminating with a candle to be lit on Christmas Eve.
Advent is all about putting our focus
on that first Christmas and God’s Greatest Gift
for mankind, His Son ~ JESUS.
As we celebrate the first coming of Christ,
It is intrinsic that we think
about His second coming as well,
for the scriptures clearly state that HE is coming back
for those who believe in Him
and the day is drawing closer!
as you prepare for Christmas this year and always!

Thanks for coming by yesterday. Yes, I am learning more and more about just being who Christ wants me to be, and trying to follow his
lead, not my own. Hard sometimes!!
I like to get my hands into everything, but I am learning it is not his plan for me, and that His burden truly is light. We put a lot more stress on ourselves that He ever expects from us.
You are so right about being thankful, I feel it really keeps us out of the ditch if we just keep finding things to praise the Lord for, it's like Bonnie over at one designing lady says, Hard to be unhappy when you are so thankful!

ReplyDeletethanks for your sweet comments. The wreath is suspended from the pic light with clear fishing line. It looks much nicer in person actually cause it looks so 3 dimensional. We have done it that way for 3 years so decided to do something different this year.
So from your email at Thanksgiving it sounds like Katie & family and Daniel will be home
for Christmas. that would be wonderful!

ReplyDeleteThe return of Jesus Christ has been SO prominent in my thoughts this Advent season. To me, it seems this is one of the aspects of Advent that has been underplayed in the past (or maybe I was just dull of heart). Anyway, this great Hope looms large in my mind these days. What joy it brings. This is truly "tidings of comfort and joy!"
