Precious Ones,
Do you ever struggle with a consistent
Quiet Time with the LORD?
I certainly do!
If I'm not involved in a weekly
group study of God's Word,
I'm embarrassed to say that days can go
by without spiritually "re-fueling."
And when I'm not intentional
about spending time with Christ,
I'm settling for yesterday's Manna
which God said just won't do!
Then there's the relationship aspect
of my walk with Christ.
For a "Doer"
it's hard to remember how important
being still before God
is to my heart
as well as to His!
Please pray for me to be more consistent
in pursuing a daily Quiet Time.
I've ordered a new version of the New Testament
and I plan on journaling (long hand)
so I can better reflect on God's Words.
Here is a quote that a dear friend emailed to me
from a book called A Woman After God's Own Heart
by Elizabeth George:
" I call this time with God (quiet time in the Word)
'the great exchange'.
Away from the world and hidden from public view,
I exchange my weakness for His power,
my darkness for His light,
my problems for His solutions,
my burdens for His freedom,
my frustrations for His peace,
my turmoil for His calm,
my hopes for His promises,
my afflictions for His balm of comfort,
my questions for His answers,
my confusion for His knowledge,
my doubt for His assurance,
my nothingness for His awesomeness,
the temporal for the eternal,
the impossible for the possible! "
Now THAT sounds like a win-win proposition
and the Best Invitation I have ever had!

And what a lovely exchange it is!! I think we all lapse from time to time leaving our moments with the Savior amidst life's fray...thankfully He gently prods us back into His Word where the "great exchange" can take place and we can be fed fresh and new!
ReplyDeletePraying for you and me as well! May we find our strength for the day only in Him and feast on His Word!!
Love you, Jess...wonderful post!

Hey sweet friend,
ReplyDeleteSuch a great post. That is why I love blogging, a place where we can share our heart and our true feelings. I believe this day and time it is hard to get all our priorities in order. We all struggle with making sure we make time to be quiet before the Lord, but it is so important, isn't it. I too am going to be better at it because I believe the time is short and He is coming back for His bride soon.
Hugs,
Tara
definitely a win-win! I think we all struggle with our priorities...I heard it said recently that it is not so much a matter of are we having our "devotions?" but "are we devoted?" -- meaning the more of a priority we place on being fully devoted to our Lord and to His Word, the more natural it will become for us to steal away with Him...I'm working on it too my friend!
