Commit Your Way

Precious Ones,

I feel like I've been "missing in action" for several days.  Overwhelmed with preparations for our upcoming Gala Fundraising Banquet, I can't wait until November 12th!!!!  By then, it will all be over, the dust will settle and except for a mountain of receipting (hopefully) I'll be able to breathe again.

Why do big events and threatening deadlines sap my strength so?
Could it be my age, per chance?
I mean, I am older than I was LAST autumn when I was planning this same event!

Oh, how I need the Joy of the LORD, for He is my strength!

Maybe you are feeling exhausted or discouraged today as well. Let's pray for each other.

We have such important "races" to run...
raising families, caring for elderly parents, coaching young people, managing businesses or ministries, directing non-profits... God has called us to eternal stuff: relationships with people He has placed in our paths, even as we juggle crazy, earthly schedules.

May we keep our eyes on JESUS and the goal of being with HIM  forever!

And when commitment starts to wane, let's remember Who it is we are serving.

"Trust  in the LORD and do good; Dwell  in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD; and He will give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He will do it."                                                            Psalm 37:3-6

  1. Oh dear sister,
I understand, how I do understand. I've been feeling very much the same. I have needed to "step back" and truly let go of some responsibilities and tasks and simply stop and take care of myself. Too many activities and too much business and it has left me burnt out. But God........
"The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."---Isaiah 40

  3. "Eternal stuff". I came here after being on the phone for 1 hour and 21 minutes. LISTENING. Finally, I texted my husband and asked him to call me on my cell phone! I had OTHER eternal stuff to do today :)

Praying for YOU, Jess. The joy of the Lord IS our strength. Joy to you!

  5. I have been in a season of slowing down and learning to savor peace and quiet. I'm beginning to like it!

  6. A gala? And I'm not invited? Mercy, I love a good party; not sure what kind yours will be, but I know that all your hard work will pay off in the end. I've been meditating on the book of Colossians in recent days; in particular, Col. 1:10-14. About living a life worthy of the Lord and pleasing him in every way. The first way we do that?

"bearing fruit in every good work."

I have no doubt that whatever "good work" you and I are called to in this season of our lives, God intends for it to be a fruit bearing work. We aren't in charge of the fullness of that work; we just plant little seeds of grace as we go along, and in season they will harvest a fullness we aren't always privy to. Thus, keep planting Jesus as you go, sister. I'll endeavor to the same.

  7. Unfortunately I'm one of those "the higher the high, the lower the low" types! I did have goals that I wanted to accomplish this week, and while my list is getting checked off slowly...I'm FAR from on top of things. So I know the feeling...that's a very important job you have there girlfriend...and I bet you do it expertly. But I will pray for your endurance. We strive to do all our work well, as unto the Lord!

  8. Hey sweet Jess. Been working on my wired crosses for another bazaar in Nov. Made a few domino necklaces and decorated some slumped glass bottles. Being pretty lazy today. We had our Fall Festival at school yesterday and it was a lot of work. Had a great turn out though. Praying for you and the great work you do.
    hugs,

  9. Hi Jess,

I'm praying for your strength and health in the LORD as you move forward in all that He has you to do.

Wish I could be there. I wrote back to you about your kind invitation. Will be with our daughter 11th and 12th at the University I stated.

When is the next event in 2011 so that I can put it on my calendar well in advance.

You're heart in the LORD is pleasing to HIM I'm sure so keep going Sister!

    Much love!
