At least for this "window" in time, Hubby and I were able to be gloriously spontaneous. We decided on Thursday afternoon, after checking the work schedule with his boss, that we would drive for 13 hours the next day to KY and spend the Easter weekend with our family. The impromptu plan was to return home on Monday, clocking in another 13 hour drive. GOD was so gracious to us and despite a couple of minor (and humorous) mishaps, our trip went without a hitch.
Completing the 1516 mile trip, the yearning in my Grandma's heart to be with my kids and grands was filled to overflowing. Though we had been in town in January (for the birth of our littlest grandson), we left a couple of days after Micah's arrival without much bonding time. THIS trip was birthed by my need to hold the little guy and love on him.
Mission accomplished!
He felt sooooooooo good in my arms and the smiles he gave me were just priceless! What a blessing to feed him, cuddle him and listen to his "coos."
The other two little guys (ages: almost 6 and almost 2) cracked me up with their antics. Here's a sneak- peek at Diaper Man (a superhero of small stature) and Jeremiah our budding artist:
What fun we had in surprising our son who came to join his sister's family for Easter. He had no idea that we impulsively made the trip and was delightfully shocked to find us hiding in her house. I guess you could say we were part of the Easter Egg Hunt! "Mom and Dad...how did you get here????"
Walks in the sun, out for coffee with my daughter, a family dinner, card games with our oldest grandson, sharing an in-home movie and sitting in church together, all made for a weekend to remember!
Including our SIL's brother, there were nine of us at Easter Service!
Topping off our trip, was our daughter's hilarious comment
to her 22 month old, middle child ~
to her 22 month old, middle child ~
"Look," she said, as we all sat on the sofa.
"Grandpa and Grandma have velcro sneakers
just like you!"
just like you!"
Oh my, Life is coming full circle!
GOD was so good in giving us this quality time
and I praise HIM for it.
What a special spring gift to nourish my heart!
