Pausing to Remember...

April 1st is the funniest day of the year for most folks.
But for me, it has lost all meaning of jokes and frivolity.
It is the day I will always commemorate my Mom's promotion to Heaven.

I will carry her memory, and celebrate her life for the rest of my time on this earth.  Isn't that the privilege of a daughter, especially a dutiful daughter?

As many of you know, I have a keen interest in exploring the mother/daughter bond.  As I write a memoir about my relationship with the person who most influenced my youth, I pray that I can portray the awe and love I had for her despite all the hard things we endured.  And today I will remember the good times, the sweet times, the reconciliation we experienced.

See you soon Mom!
Love you.

  1. How wonderful that there ARE good times to remember! What a blessing that the "reconciliation" happened. Hope this day brings a few reasons to smile - laugh even - with the freedom that forgiveness fosters within...

  2. Hugs to you today Jess, I know the bittersweet feeling you have today. You look like your mom.
I know you are missing her today but I'm thankful you have so many loved ones around you to give you extra hugs. Your mom is so proud of you, gazing down from heaven and smiling.
    Love, Noreen

  4. Beautiful post in honor of your Mom. I'm glad to have known her, if even just a little...I remember what fun we had in Florida at that place where we made our own blueberry pancakes on the large grill attached to our table! Fun times!
