Some say they don't want to be buried
because they don't want to establish a place
where loved ones go to be sad.
But a grave site can be a lovely and powerful
place for thanksgiving!
Of all of my Mom's family,
I am the only one close enough
to regularly visit...
taking roses, thankful thoughts
and sometimes balloons.
It makes my heart glad that
I can still offer daughterly love
and attention.
Though she is not there,
(she lives in the presence of our Mighty King Jesus)
I have a place to go to be grateful for ~
her many good qualities,
God's gift of reconciliation,
His lessons of unconditional Love.
(A balloon and rose for her husband and 3 children)
The second anniversary of her passing
was a sweet and precious day.

Oh Jess, Such a sweet post. I can hardly believe it has been two years since her homegoing. This year marks six for my Mom-equally as difficult to believe.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely fragrance you are, Jess, as you pour out your love and thanks at her graveside.

Hi Jessica,
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post, and a sweet day to remember.
So good to know that is not their real resting place, just a symbol of where they left!
Can't believe it has been 2 yrs. already. My where is the time going so quickly! So glad it was a lovely and powerful day as you honored your Mom.
Good for you hon. My Mom will be gone almost 6 yrs. the end of August, that just amazes me, it has been that long already. So glad she is finally happy!!
Hope you are doing well, nice pic too, by the way!!
Love ya, Nellie
Beautiful...just beautiful, dear sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing from your heart and the sweet pictures......warms my heart this morning as I prepare for my day ahead.
What will today bring? ...To always be ready and willing to see what God will show us each new day. I love you and thank God for you!
Hugs---Michelle
I share your sentiments. When I lived close to Caleb's grave, it brought me peace to decorate his grave.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you Jess, This was such a sweet post, for although my mom has been gone 35 yrs I never felt like that when we could go to the gravesite-it always made me sad. Thank you for bringing such a sweet mindset to me, for although other family gravesites are still in Ca. when I go back I'll view them differently.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Noreen
What a beautiful post, especially the one before. My father has been gone almost 2 years also and it's still so unbelievable that he is gone. I can't tell you how many times I wish he was here and often go to the phone to call him and ask him a question. I think my problem with Phil being gone this year is because my dad is also gone.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful testimony to the love you have for your mother!
Hi Jess, what beautiful thoughts, and pictures. Most of my side of the family is buried in a local cemetery, going back several generations, so I go over there often through the year to help tend the gravesites. While our loved ones souls who died in Christ are present with the Lord, one day those graves will open and their bodies will be resurrected. I think that's why going to the cemetery gives me such peace and comfort. With your mother's and my father's death anniversaries falling at the Easter season, we can remind ourselves of that blessed hope. Because He lives, we too shall live!
