It was an exhausting, jam-packed month!
Starting with the WALK For LIFE at the Pregnancy Center, followed immediately by a long day of jury duty, the month unfolded with a major grant proposal I had to write, then a three day international conference in Orlando, wrapping up with a holiday weekend
of home improvements and entertaining!
(Thanks to ALL who sponsored me! )
On top of ALL that activity (which included various church functions and visiting with family), we bought a newer car (UGH...hate shopping for cars) and sold our old one on ebay.
Now I need a vacation!!!

Here are some photos of our challenging task of repainting the metal, porch doors that started peeling about 6 months ago. Our home has been such a blessing but it's 20 years old now and it seems that EVERYTHING needs to be fixed or remodeled at the same time! Unfortunately, we don't feel as spry as we once did =( .
We began work on the doors to the right.
This is plastic covering the doorway (from the inside) to keep our treasured A/C in.
The old paint is bubbling in response to the heavy duty stripping compound: Jasco.
Hubby's lightweight rubber gloves weren't strong enough and he came running into the kitchen to put his hand under cold water. I had been praying that he wouldn't hurt himself (anyone else need to do this when their husband starts a new project???) and thankfully he was okay.
Stripping the old paint off. I'm fascinated by the patterns of the old paint.
But it may have to wait until after our trip to help my daughter when her new baby arrives!
A worthy delay... after all, first things first.

What a busy - and productive - month you had, Jess Now for the Joys of June! How excited you must be for that baby to arrive.
ReplyDeleteHi Jess,
ReplyDeleteYea, it seems like when you have a home there is always something that needs to be done, but the better part is having the lovely home, and the projects even tho they take us a bit longer (lol) these days, they are very gratifying when completed (probably because they take so much more out of us)lol
How is Katie feeling??? Probably so ready to get this show on the road I'll bet!! Nice you guys can go up to help out. Be sure to let us know when the big event happens....meanwhile we will be praying for Katie and baby, and that all goes well..........and quickly, Lord Willing!
Blessings hon,
Nellie
Oh yea, that is a nice pic of you and the other ladies you posted!
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job on making your goal!!
PTL
Blessings, Nellie again!! lol
Looks beautiful!!! And the pictures of you are very nice as well!
ReplyDeleteWonderful job, dear friends! I understand the painstaking task of painting french doors...John & I painted ours a few months ago (the new doors on the interior "chat room") and I was so glad to have that project finished! But it always feels so good afterwards to step back and say, "We did it!" and knowing that it should stay new-looking for many years to come!
ReplyDeleteWell, Katie's due date has arrived...and we are anxiously awaiting the news that Baby #2 has arrived! Looking forward to the new pictures to come! Love you all......Michelle
Wow what a month! I can relate but for all different reasons. Oh what the wonder of JUNE will bring as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Enjoy your door make-over.
Blessings and good health!
Hello Jess! Thanks for stopping by my place today...I'm JUST getting back to blogland...We had our SC grands and d-i-l here for the week. Plus I was babysitting the other two. The old gray mare ain't what she used to be, at least in terms of energy! So I am also exhausted...but happy! I will catch up with your last couple of posts soon as I am thoroughly interested in all that is going on! Rest up a little now, because your daughter is going to be needing you! FUN FUN FUN!! You are so beautiful in that first picture -- so glad the fundraiser was a success. Talk soon friend!
ReplyDeleteMay was packed! How has June been treating you?
